Major terrorist attack planned for Easter foiled by security forces

Lahore: Security forces claim to have foiled a major terrorist attack in Lahore. It has been stated that this attack was being planned for Easter, Sunday April 16. In line with the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the terrorist were planning to carry out a deadly attack on the occasion of Easter.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated: “Security forces conducted a special IBO near Punjab Housing Society, Lahore. A terrorist was killed during the operation while four soldiers and two officers received injuries.” In keeping the details publicized by military media wing, the security forces have seized suicide jackets and explosives from the detained terrorists. It was further revealed that a female suspect was also taken into custody. She is suspected to be associated with the terrorists, ISPR revealed.

The military stated that in the overnight raid, four soldiers were wounded. During the raid one of the terrorists was killed by the security forces while his associate was detained. It was stated that the it is still unclear which militant group wanted to target Christians, as the terrorist are yet to reveal about their masterminds.

Terrorists had targeted Christian community in Lahore, on Easter Sunday last year. On March 27, Easter Sunday a terrorist killed more than 70 people and injured more 300 others when he detonated a suicide vest near the children’s swings at Lahore’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park. The park was crowded because Christians had come in large number in order to celebrate Easter.Source CIP
